v1.0.2

Latest
  • FixedPro

    Exporting .ass subtitles (Pro)

Exporting a job as .ass no longer fails with “Unsupported export format”.

  • Fixed

    Clear download errors

A failed speech model or GPU (CUDA) download now says what went wrong instead of “Unknown download error”.

  • Improved

    Anonymous usage statistics

Sablate now sends anonymous usage statistics, so we can see which features are used and where jobs fail. They are counts and fixed codes, such as which model a job used, the app version, your operating system and your plan, tied to a random ID that stays on your computer. Never your audio or video, transcripts, subtitles, translations, file names, paths or keys. The full list is in the privacy policy.

v1.0.1

October 1, 2026
  • Improved

The background looks the same in the preview and the export

A caption background is now one clean, square box around the whole caption, the default Classic look included. The exported video used to draw a thick outline hugging every letter instead.

  • New

    Box background

A tight box behind each line, the broadcast look. Tick it in Style → Color; it needs a background opacity above 0% and isn't available with word-by-word highlighting.

  • Fixed

Word-by-word box highlight over a background

The background now holds still while the highlight moves from word to word. It used to take the outline color and resize around every word.

  • Improved

    Captions at any height

The margin now reaches half the frame, so a caption can sit anywhere between the edge and the middle. The middle positions stay centred.

  • Fixed

    Offline translation on Intel Macs

Every offline translation on an Intel Mac failed with “Numpy is not available”. It works again.

  • Fixed

Translation with non-ASCII Windows user names

Offline translation failed when the Windows user name contained letters such as ç, ş or ü. It works again.

Big update
  • New

    Local transcription with faster-whisper

Four quality tiers — Fast, Balanced, Accurate and Best — running on your own machine, with automatic NVIDIA GPU acceleration on Windows and a CPU fallback everywhere else.

  • New

    Translation layers

Add a target language on top of an existing transcript instead of running a second job. Argos works fully offline; DeepL, OpenAI and Claude are available with your own API key.

  • New

    Subtitle editor

Video, transcript and style panel in one window: drag on the timeline to retime, split and merge cues, and keep an eye on the reading-speed (CPS) warning.

  • New

    13 subtitle presets and karaoke

Hormozi, Beast, TikTok, Karaoke, Cinema and more, with a real word-by-word karaoke sweep. Pro can save custom presets.

  • NewPro

    Burn subtitles into .mp4

Render your styling into the video with libass — real subtitle typography, not a flat overlay, at 16:9, 9:16 or 1:1. Free burns in with a small corner mark; Pro removes it and adds .ass and soft-subtitled .mkv export.

  • Improved

    NVIDIA CUDA runtime on Windows

The CUDA runtime downloads the first time a supported GPU runs a job, so it is picked up without a separate install and transcription runs roughly 5–10× faster.
