Why we built Sablate
Every subtitle tool wanted our footage on their servers and $20–40 a month for the privilege. So we built the opposite.
Our story
Subtitling is one of the few video jobs a laptop can genuinely do on its own. Whisper runs locally, ffmpeg renders locally, libass draws the type locally. And yet almost every product in this space asks you to upload the file first and pay every month after — even though there is no server cost to defend once the work happens on your machine.
That is a real problem for anyone under an NDA, a security policy or simply an instinct not to hand over unreleased footage. Sablate takes the other route: everything runs on your computer, the cloud engines are opt-in with your own API key, and Pro is one $29 payment instead of a monthly bill.
What we believe in
Local by default
Your audio and video stay on your disk. Anything that would send them somewhere is opt-in and says so on screen before it happens.
Honest about limits
No dubbing, no voice cloning, no auto-shorts, no batch queue. We list what Sablate cannot do next to what it can, so nobody buys on a misunderstanding.
